Millennium Park : the glass city in Chicago
The architecture and innovative designing of Millennium Park includes every thing a person can even not imagine to be in a park, beautifully designed with glass walls, ice scatting, plazas, crown fountain, and the rest of the area is covered with gardens Chase Promenade. Lets try to observe the innovative designing of Millennium Park.
Lurie Garden for instance, is designed with planting and lighting all around. However, the large and intimate pedestrian sculptures add more beauty to the gardens. Another creativity is the 15-foot high shoulders, which surrounds the Garden at the same time making walk ways that follows waterside, which is cut transversely over the entire garden. This remarkable architecture is further designed in an artistic style as it separates the garden into two halves with a verity of plants on both the sides. However, these shoulder hedges is not emphasizing beauty in the Garden but it has architectural significance as it holds the entire garden and not only frames it but also protects it like shoulders. So one can also say that these big shoulders designed also symbolizes the feelings of the people of Chicago regarding the industry, which is the strength of Chicago.
However, each and every aspect of the Millennium Park has its own beauty and significance. Another marvelous artwork related to the Park is the oval shape sculpture designed is known as the “Cloud Gate”, which is located at the SBC Plaza situated in the Park. This monument is fictitious of a flawless series of greatly polished stainless steel, which is designed in such a way that it seems to be a philosophical work touching the skyline of Chicago. However, the most inspiring aspect of this Cloud Gate, which is a sculpture, made up of stainless steel is the liquid mercury siding it.
Another impressive and interesting aspect of
the artwork of the Millennium Park is the Crown
Fountain. This is the most magnificent designing
technique, which at the same time reflects the
sensitive, delicate and transparent nature of
the people of Chicago and also ratifies the beauty
of the Park. The Crown Fountain is basically designed
by a Spanish sculptor and believed to be the gift
of the Crown families of Chicago. However, the
50-foot high glass block towers designed at the
end of a shallow reflecting pool, at the same
time activated with colored lights, video images
and waterfall from the top of each side, makes
it one of a kind. No other water fountain in the
world is yet so beautifully designed as the Crown
Fountain in the Millennium Park. So the intellectual
and innovative skills of the designer revelation
the viewer as very simple and common though exclusive
elements are used in the making of the Fountain.
Though it is designed beautifully but at the same
time the use of too much glass along stainless
steel in the architectures. In case of any accident
by even a slight hit on the glass walls, every
thing can break and hurt the kids or other people.
